Admission and Billing

At UERM Medical Center, we know how hospital visits can be challenging. Our Admitting Section is here to ensure that your admission is handled with care, efficiency, and compassion. Whether you’re scheduled for a procedure or arriving for emergency care, we are ready to assist you.

Admission Procedures

  • RegistrationPlease proceed to the Admitting Section, located at the Ground Floor of the hospital. Our staff will assist you in processing your admission.
  • Patient Assessment Our medical team will evaluate your condition and determine the appropriate care setting. Room assignment will depend on your needs, preferences, and room availability.
  • OrientationOnce admitted, you will receive information regarding hospital policies, patient rights, and what to expect during your stay.

What You Need to Bring

To facilitate a smooth admission, please bring the following:

  • Valid government-issued ID 
  • PhilHealth card and Member Data Record (MDR), if applicable 
  • HMO or insurance documents (if any) 
  • Doctor’s order, laboratory results, or diagnostic findings (if available) 
  • List of current medications and allergies 

For Elective Admissions

Patients with scheduled procedures or surgeries are advised to confirm their appointment at least 24 hours before admission. Pre-admission clearance may be required from your attending physician.

Initial Deposit

Patients are required to make an initial deposit based on their admission type (elective, emergency, or surgical). Outstanding hospital bills must be settled promptly to avoid delays in procedures or inconvenience.
  • Patients admitted on an elective basis (non-surgical) are required to make an initial payment.
    • Failure to make the initial payment will result in the patient’s hospital stay being placed on a “CASH” basis (i.e., all laboratory procedures and medicines) will only be provided upon proof of payment.
  • Patients admitted as an emergency case are required to make the initial payment within 24 hours of admission.
  • Patients admitted for elective procedures/surgeries are required to make the initial payment prior to the procedure/surgery. This is in addition to the required initial payment prior to admission.

Admitted Patients with Outstanding Hospital Bills

  • If there is a previous outstanding balance before a scheduled procedure or surgery (elective case), the patient must settle the outstanding balance prior to the procedure/surgery.
    • Elective operations will not be scheduled until the previous outstanding hospital bill is fully settled.
  • To avoid inconvenience, our Billing Section staff will provide an updated hospital bill to all admitted patients.
  • Patients may also check their updated hospital bills at the Billing Section, located on the Ground Floor of the Pay Hospital Building.

Cut-Off Time for Discharge of Patients

  • What time should patients obtain discharge orders from their attending physician? - Patients must obtain discharge orders from their attending physician on or before 12:00 PM on the day of discharge
  • By what time should patients vacate their room to avoid additional charges? - Patients are required to vacate their room by 3:00 PM; otherwise, additional charges for room occupancy will apply.

PhilHealth and HMO

What should a PhilHealth member do upon admission?

  • If the patient is a PhilHealth member upon admission, they may proceed directly to Window 1 of the Billing Section to complete the necessary requirements and request tagging if they are a senior citizen.

When and where should PhilHealth forms be submitted?

  • The appropriate and fully signed PhilHealth forms should be submitted to the PhilHealth Section located on the Ground Floor of the Pay Hospital Building prior to discharge.

What documents must be presented for HMO-covered elective admission?

  • A valid HMO ID card and authorization for elective admission must be presented. If a Letter of Authorization (LOA) is not submitted within 24 hours after admission, the patient will be responsible for covering hospital charges.

Who bears the additional costs if hospital charges exceed the HMO benefit threshold?

  • If hospital charges exceed the HMO benefit threshold, the patient or their responsible party shall bear the additional costs, including excess room and board fees.

Who can the patient contact for inquiries regarding HMO benefits?

  • The patient may contact their HMO provider for any inquiries or clarifications

Patient Discount and Privilege

Senior Citizen/Person with Disability (PWD) Discount
  • To avail of the senior citizen or PWD discount, patients must present a valid Senior Citizen ID or PWD ID upon admission. This ensures they receive the mandated benefits and discounts on hospital charges. The 20% discount is computed based on the lowest room rate. Failure to present the required ID may result in the forfeiture of the discount privileges. 

HMO

Health Maintenance Organization
  • To avail of your HMO benefits you must present your card and letter of authorization, if your admission is elective. In order to avoid confusion and inconvenience, please be aware of the limits of your plan. If you have any questions, please contact your HMO provider. In case of an emergency admission, please inform your HMO at the soonest time possible.
