Hemodialysis

Treatment that helps your body to remove waste and excess fluids from your blood, when your kidney is not capable of. Our kidney is responsible for removing waste and maintains the right balance of water, acids and minerals to your body. It also helps in the production of red blood cells. Procedure will last for 4 hours. The patient will need to undergo treatment thrice or twice a week depending on their Nephrologists. Before starting the treatment, patients should have vascular access such as Fistula, Graft and Catheter.

Two (2) Types of Hemodialysis Treatment

Low flux dialysis treatment

Uses a low flux dialyzer (artificial kidney) that allows slower removal of waste products from the blood and can filter smaller amounts of toxins.

High flux dialysis treatment

Uses a high flux dialyzer (artificial kidney) with a highly permeable membrane that allows effective removal of medium to larger waste from the body.

Procedures:

  • Each session your blood is removed from your body through your vascular access and sent across the artificial kidney, this is where your blood is being cleaned and removed excess fluids from your body, and then your clean blood is sent back into your body.
